Kite Flying

My Abuelo once told me, kite flying is just like parenting and loving your kids. You make them, you shape them, you educate them, and try to as much as possible design them to be strong, to be the best, and ready to face the unknown. You do everything to make them not only look good, but also to be good at handling things, balancing life, fly the strong winds, and face the possible rainfalls or downfall. You hold them and guide them until they learn how to fly. They soar, they plummet, they fall down and get hurt, but all you can do is watch them and encourage them, because there are things and tests in life that they have to go through, in order for them to become stronger. Strong enough to face even harder challenges in life.
Sometimes they fly farther and farther away from you. All you can do is try to keep that tie that binds both of you. Sometimes, you tend to hold them back, simply because you feel that they are not yet ready. But when you see that they are doing pretty well, you loosen your grip and let them be free to fly away. And when you see them about to fall, all you can do is try to help them keep the balance to stay afloat even when the wind that keeps them flying seemed to have gone away.
When the wind suddenly changes direction or is too strong, you fear that they might not be able to hold it and break down, but confident that you made them strong and designed to face such challenge, you let them be and watch them dance through the winds and rhythm of life. Because you can only do so much, and give him a strong foundation, and when the time comes, no matter how much you try to hold them back to keep them from flying away, they will try to break free or sometimes the wind breaks that tie.
